Busy day

Today I slept until almost 8:00 AM ! I got busy pretty early though. I found a recipe for making grubby candle (well for making my old candles look grubby) Its harder than it looks. I also reworked some of my flower arrangements. I was going to toss the sunflowers that have been on my kitcehn table for 10 year but decided to try some copper paint on them. They turned out pretty well! I painted and decoupaged a tray that I have had for years. Of course, I also did the laundry and packed Bill's clothes for his trip to the mountains. He and Ryan will meet Marianne and her family in Pigeon Forge. The day flew by and I am getting sleepy so stay tuned for updated pics of my recent makeovers!

I just entered a great give away. You can also enter by clicking on the link to the right! Harvest Moon Primitives. :)

Last official day of summer break...

I was at school yesterday for SmartBoard training. I learned the basics and I'm anxious to get started with it in my classroom. However, I am mourning the end of my "do what I want to" days!
I didn't get home until 5:30 after visiting my mother in law. I cooked dinner (Apple Bourbon pork tenderloin was yummy!), cleaned the kitchen and worked on a few more prim projects. I finished a country green peg shelf and a very distressed bowl/book rack. It was midnight before I knew it!
I still have lots of dark blue paint left so I think I will tackle a couple of quilt racks. I hope the good folks on the Country Sampler and A Primitive Place forums aren't getting tired of seeing my makeovers. I am definitly hooked!
Better get started, have a great day! :)

Training today

I recently had a SmartBoard installed in my classroom. Today, I am going to learn to use it! I'm excited about it but I kind of hate leaving my home now that I am in a nesting mode. I knew it was common for mothers to be to nest but I guess it happens to grandmothers to be too. :)

I stayed busy with painting yesterday. I finished several items and tried a new color combination on a small Queen Ann table. I used the sandstone paint that was left from my kitchen project for the first layer then I added some brown to the paint for the second layer. Finally I dry brushed some bronze paint around the edges and on the leg details. I like the effect. I'll add before and after pics when I get home. Now, I had better get ready for school!
Have a great day!

Good Wednesday morning!

I did make it out of the house yesterday. I found several goodies at GW to make over "prim style" I also found 2 new lampshades at Lowe's for $4.99 each! They are at home in our bedroom now. I'll post some before and after pics when I finish until then I will add the last set of makeovers.

Today, I would like to tackle the computer room. It is a small room off the master bedroom and can also be entered by the hall. It was the smallest of the original 2 bedrooms. It has served as a nursery and then my office when I had a home business. Now it is home to the main computer and it is full of boxes of books and stuff. I really should make a trip to GW to donate rather than buy!

Have a great hump day! :)

Too much to do and no motivation!

I've been up since 4:30. (yes, A.M.!). Made Bill's breakfast and packed his lunch. I thought I might as well get used to the idea of getting up early since I will be going back to work next week. :( I'm happy to have a job I love. It just seems that summer break goes by so fast.

I need to go to Lowe's, Wally World, Staples and I will probably stop by the Goodwill store to see if they have any more bargains I can paint and prim. :)

I am going to try to add some photos of our home and my creations as soon as I learn all the ins and outs of this site. Have a great Tuesday!

My first blog post!

Its my last week of summer break. It has gone by so quickly! I suppose I have managed to accomplish quite a bit in the past 2 months. I had a yard sale and made some money off things I no longer needed. I visited my precious daughter, son in law and new step grandsons in Virginia Beach. Bill and I remodeled the kitchen after 20 yrs. I discovered Country Sampler's forum and then A Primitive Place. Love them both! I discovered that I enjoy "primming" old items to give them fresh appeal. I'm just sorry that I didn't make this discovery until a couple a of weeks ago!

Bill and I just attended our niece's wedding in Columbus, OH. It was beautiful! I wish we had more time to spend in the area, maybe next year.

I haven't read as much as I wanted (never can find my book and my glasses at the same time)!
I didn't get a tan or lose any weight.

I still have so much to do before school starts, I really should get busy....until next time!
